Dr. Garrett Wdowin was born and raised in Central New York by two parents who believed in the body’s innate ability to heal itself. His parents owned a health food store, raised livestock, and grew most of the family’s food. When Dr. Wdowin was sick, he was given garlic and/or herbs. When he had cuts or bruises, he was given aloe and/or comfrey. These two fantastic people provided a foundation of knowledge and taught a young Dr. Wdowin that “Why” is a good question.
Athletics were a large part of Dr. Wdowin’s adolescent life and during a few small injuries he was introduced to chiropractic medicine. This began the interest in becoming a doctor and helping people with their health. After being recruited by a few schools he decided to attend Brown University and play football. During this time in college football he was plagued by injuries and never really had a chance to compete. Through these tough times he learned, as his mother kept telling him, “A head is for more than just running into people with.”
During his junior year at Brown his older sister informed Dr. Wdowin that she had found a profession that was in line with how they were raised and offered more, in the form of medicine, than just a pill. She had researched the profession and the schools and had decided to apply to the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Wdowin spent some time looking into Naturopathic medicine, visited his sister in Arizona, decided it was the “good fight”, and planned to begin school in Arizona immediately after graduation.
During Dr. Wdowin’s time in medical school he had the pleasure of working with a broad spectrum of physicians across the country specializing in cancer, autoimmune disease, pain, sports medicine, chronic disease and environmental medicine. Following graduation Dr. Wdowin began working in Scottsdale, Arizona where he was part of an integrative medical team consisting of D.O.’s, N.D.’s, and an M.D.(H). During the coming years Dr. Wdowin saw hundreds of patients and administered 1000′s of therapies while refining his skills.
Today Dr. Wdowin is a leading specialist in the field of Environmental Medicine and excels in clinical practice due to his expertise in combining dietary modifications, individualized medical testing, nutraceutical supplementation, depuration techniques, bio-identical hormone replacement, and intravenous therapies into a single patient’s treatment plan. He is currently completing a fellowship in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine.
